Mosaiq Insights measures your network's performance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that you can customise. Each KPI is built from components that matter most to you. Three KPIs come built-in when you start using Mosaiq Insights: Punctuality, Reliability, and Distance run. Each comes with a target so you can see whether your network is meeting its contractual obligations.
KPI calculations
KPIs are typically defined once per customer during onboarding. To reflect the KPI variability we see in the public transport industry, Mosaiq Insights supports the ability to:
-
Customise KPIs in a unique way that works for your network (1), and
-
Define as many KPIs as you need (2).
KPI calculations include four components:
-
Thresholds - these are global settings that can affect your KPI values, such as the definition of early, on-time, and late, and stop geofence sizes. These global thresholds apply across your network and cannot be set per KPI calculation.
-
Inputs - these can include any raw data value available in Mosaiq Insights. For example, First Stop, Timing Points, Last Stop, the number of matched trips, and actual distance run.
-
Weightings - these determine how much impact an “Input” has on your overall KPI result.
-
Formula - this defines how the KPI is calculated. You can choose which inputs are included, how they are combined (for example, add, subtract, multiply, or divide), and how thresholds and weightings are applied to produce the final result.
By default, Mosaiq Insights displays the following three default KPIs: Punctuality, Reliability, and Distance run (3). Please refer to the following pages for more information on how Mosaiq's default KPIs are calculated:
To confirm what the current settings are for your KPI calculations, or to request KPIs specific to your organisation's needs, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
Note that customising your KPIs after onboarding may incur additional charges.
KPI targets
Each KPI has an associated target, defined at onboarding. This target is used to determine whether the KPI is passing or failing your contractual obligations. The definition of a pass or fail is also defined at onboarding.
A pass/fail of your KPI target is indicated by:
-
Pass - A green tick indicates that your selected KPI has met the target (1).
-
Fail - A red cross indicates that your selected KPI has failed the target (2).
On the KPI dashboard, the coloured line above each tab is also based on whether that KPI has passed or failed the target (3).
The default KPI performance targets are:
-
Punctuality: 95%
-
Reliability: 90%
-
Distance run: 95%
For default Mosaiq KPIs, the KPI passes if it is at or above the target.
Targets and what it means to pass a target can be adjusted at onboarding. To request a change at any other time, please contact support.
